Karen Murray got started in the voice-over business as an on-air personality, hosting a popular radio show during her four years at Wesleyan University.  Upon moving to New York, she quickly began building a name for herself while voicing many audio books for children, short story romances, instructional English language tapes, and local radio spots.

Setting her sights on the lucrative commercial voice-over world, Karen immersed herself in high quality voice-over training.  “If you want to be a working voice-over professional, developing your skills is the key to your success”, says Ms. Murray.

The training paid off.  Karen was quickly signed to the voice-over department of one of the top commercial agencies in the country, Cunningham Escott Slevin Dougherty (CESD).  She has since voiced commercials for such high profile advertisers as: Colgate Palmolive, Lincoln Mercury, Verizon, MTV, alli, Lowe's, BellSouth, Mercedes Benz, Macy’s, Visine, McDonald's, Nivea, Hershey's, Lays, ExxonMobil, among many, many others.

Karen currently has national television campaigns running for Kaplan University and Soft Scrub Scrubby Pads, along with national and regional radio spots for Medicare, Verizon, Avis and Supervalu Super Markets. She recently recorded an audio book for Bitch is the New Black, written by hot new author Helena Andrews, as well as The Girl Who Fell from the Sky, winner of the Barbara Kingsolver Bellwether Prize for Fiction.

“In this business, having a nice voice isn’t enough”, says Ms. Murray.  “Knowing how to use it behind the microphone is everything.  That’s why I created TVIY.  My goal is to help people get started in the voice-over industry with quality training & technique.  I believe the best instruction comes from someone who is a working professional in the field- and that’s where I come in.”

Karen is at the top of the list of many of the city's most notable casting directors, & feels blessed to be working in this highly competitive industry.
